Short Rationale
The concept behind this Rocking the Daisies poster can be simplified down to 'letting loose'. This music festival at its core is a means for young adults to get away from the stresses that come with this period of time in their lives and allow themselves to fully relax and have fun with mates, or to 'let loose' in a sense. Emphasizing the ideas of fun and letting loose were the main drivers behind the creative decisions that contributed to the overall design of this poster. Clearly outlining the level of fun, uniqueness and overall enjoyment of the event - being able to socialise with friends, drink beverages and listen to your favourite artists - this positive experience was encapsulated within the poster through means of masking artists with different colours(blue, pink and green) to reinforce how there are a wide variety of artists for everyone to enjoy in addition to people cheering in a crowd. This was done to visually communicate that this let loose experience is the essence of Rocking the Daisies music festival.
The major use of yellow alongside white was done to replicate the colours of a daisy which was done to furthermore emphasize the brands identity. Near the top, white is used predominantly here to provide contrast to the yellow and allow for the poster to be slightly more readable in addition to being able to display free falling daisy petals - which was done to further emphasise the let loose concept. The black colour was used as it is easy to read on the bright yellow background. The two fonts that were used were Mostra Nuova for the smaller text - because it is readable - and Arbotek for the main text in the centre because it is not only readable but is bold enough to provide space to implement the respective illustrations within.
